ABOUT MAC RACING

MAC Racing was created by drag racing enthusiasts, Donald McGinnis and Patrick Hanney. The concept began with the building of a 1988 Ford Mustang Notchback. After acquiring the car in 2020, major work took shape during the height of COVID (2020 – 2021). The car was completely disassembled and the chassis rebuilt by Hi-Performance Automotive located in Waterford, MI by Jerry Sidock and Ryan Sidock. In the fall of 2021, Patrick installed the engine and drive train. The engine consists of an LS7 motor – a GM Chevrolet crate motor with 427 cubic inches. The drive train consists of a Turbo Hydramatic 400. Ultimately, during the winter of 2021 – 2022 further work was done, and the car was finally complete in spring 2022. A modified ProCharger system was also added to the motor, which creates 900 rear wheel horsepower. The car was taken to Lapeer International Dragway in May and June 2022 where it ran a 9.20 quarter mile at 147 mph.

Presently, MAC Racing is on schedule to compete across the state of Michigan at various tracks. We are hopeful that with a few minor chassis and motor adjustments, the car should be well within the 9.0 range for the quarter mile or faster!
